2018 Summer Farm Camp

What new fruit or vegetable will YOU fall in love with this summer?

Summer Camp kicks off July 9th and runs through August 31st for eight one-week sessions at Candy Lane Elementary School. You’re invited to come play with your food—and learn to love it, grow it, and cook it, too! Rising 1st graders through rising 6th graders transform into Schoolyard Farmers and experience a week-in-the-life of a one acre urban production farm. Come explore the seeds, roots, sprouts, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits we’ll chop and sprinkle into farm-fresh recipes and enjoy eating each day. A choice farm-to-fork experience for campers totally new to pulling carrots, young green thumbs, and seasoned food critics, alike! Farm arts and crafts activities, scientific inquiry, community building and active play and up to a whole lot of outdoor fun, all day!

By supporting Farm Camp you help us achieve our mission of increasing the health of our community by teaching kids how to grow nutritious food that goes from their schoolyard to their plate.

Who leads our camp

Camp is taught by leaders in the outdoor education field.

Our educators are passionate farmers and teachers, alike. We come from several years of outdoor education experience, and are committed to providing campers with a safe and fun summer on the Farm. All educators are CPR and First Aid certified. Read more about our Camp Director, Brooke Hieserich.

Refer-a-new-family Discount!

Camp is better with friends, that’s why we’re launching a refer-a-new-family program this year.

The more you refer, the more you save! Refer a new family to our camp and both you and the new family save!!

STEP 1: Give a family with a child/children who has/have never attended summer camp at Schoolyard Farms the New Family Referral Code you will receive after your registration. They will automatically save $50 OFF their camp total at checkout.

STEP 2: Remind the new family to enter or say your full name and e-mail at registration.

STEP 3: Look at your next monthly statement. A $25 credit will be issued back to you for every new family who mentions your name, email, and the New Family Referral Code during their registration. There’s NO LIMIT to how many families you can refer!

Important refer-a-friend policies.

Drop-in for a Day on the Farm!

Our summer camp program is designed with a one-week experience in mind--but sometimes just a day on the Farm is what you need! Tuition for a drop-in day of camp is $75/day and payable through your online registration account at drop-off (no later than 9:00am) the morning of your camper's drop-in day of camp. Drop-in campers must attend one Monday day of camp this summer prior to their first drop-in day of camp. The prerequisite Monday of camp can fall during any session of camp prior to your camper's first drop-in day of camp, and will help orient all campers to the physical space, policies, procedures, and community norms of our unique summer camp program. Drop-in campers attend a full day of camp 9am-3pm: morning only or afternoon only drop-in sessions are not available.

What Does My Child Need for Camp?

very day of camp your child will need to bring: a healthy lunch, water bottle, hat, sunscreen, and close-toed shoes. We recommend you label and pack camper items in a backpack or small bag. We ask that camper cell phones remain in camper backpacks during camp, and all other toys and electronic devices remain at home.

Along with all the tools and supplies we need, Schoolyard Farms will provide morning snack, afternoon snack, unlimited water and lots of fun every day
